First Icebath
I had a wonderful time using an Ice Bath for my first time, and I can say it was a very refreshing experience! Prior to stepping into the frigid water, I had spent a good bit of time in the sauna to warm and relax my body, to help loosen up my muscles from my workout. After spending time in the sauna, I quickly dressed, entered the cold water, and submerged my body three times.
The first dunk into the cold water was the most difficult because of the shock that the cold brought to my body. I needed to concentrate on breathing and try to remain calm. However, by the second and third dunking, there was some slight acclimation and the slight discomfort of the cold water.
Nonetheless, when I finished with the three dunkings in the frigid water, I was extremely relaxed and reinvigorated. My muscles felt loose and my body felt lighter. I feel that the combination of the sauna prior to the cold water, helped to reset my body. Even though the water could be somewhat uncomfortable, I did enjoy the Ice Bath overall and look forward to using an Ice Bath again in the near future.
